Special Features/Comments: This is a rare historic site in a city known for historic sites. Battleground National Cemetery is a small cemetery dedicated to 41 Union soldiers who gave their lives in defense of the Nation's Capital during the Battle of Fort Stevens (July 11-12, 1864)

lBus Route: 70 Georgia Ave NW & Van Buren St NW. Cemetery is located 1/2 block North on the East side of Georgia Ave NW. 62 5th St NW & Whittier St. NW. Walk 1/2 mile East on Whittier St. NW to Georgia Ave NW, Turn Left on Georgia Ave NW ,park is 1/2 block on left (East) side 53 Georgia Ave NW & Aspen St NW. Cross Georgia Ave NW and take a right, park is 1/2 block on left (East) side.

sTrain Line and Stop: Nearest station is Takoma (Red Line). Visitors may access Metro Bus lines listed, or walk 0.8 mile (16 minutes). Right on Cedar St NW, Left on Piney Branch Rd NW, Right on Whittier Pl NW, Left on Georgia Ave NW. Park is 1/2 block on left (east) side.
